Have you heard about gratitude and ever wondered what the concept was all about and how it would improve your life? If you are reading this post I can only assume so.
Gratitude is a concept that many people can manage to put into action but can't quite get their heads around it's meaning theoretically.
Therefore it as been studied and pondered upon by many scholars and scientists mainly in the most recent years. So if you want to understand what gratitude intakes and how it will benefit you and how you can implement it into your life then keep reading this.

What is gratitude?

So gratitude can be, as mentioned before, an abstract concept to many of us but we easily employ it on our day to day life without giving it a second thought.
Gratitude consists of an appreciation for the positive things that are provided to us, by others or not, that rise our overall happiness level.
Some of us have a bigger or more intense pre-disposition to feel gratitude than others although with that being said all of us feel it either way. The effort to practice this more than you typically do though can provide you a lot of benefits that would range from your physical health to your mental well-being.

Benefits

  • Increases happiness in the long run, which makes us more content with life;
  • Decreases materialist tendencies;
  • Better physical health, including less fatigue and better sleep;
  • Decreases tendency to experience burnout, which is known by being an emotional state of physical exhaustion when one is faced with excessive stress;
  • Increases prosocial behaviors;
  • It helps to fortify already existing relationships.

How to put it into practice?

There are fair many ways to experience gratitude far more than you already do and here I am going to show you how.
  • Use a gratitude journal. This is one of the most frequent ways of practicing gratitude nowadays since many influencers have adviced this practice as a way to achieve a more healthy and content view of life. It consists of writing down a few things that you are grateful for every day or week to keep you accountable for the good things in your life.
  • Show gratitude more openly. To show gratitude to others once you feel they have contributed to your happiness is an excellent way to practice it more.
  • Thank others more mindfully. When saying thank you to someone try to thank them in a more meaningful way to you and to them.
  • Write reminders. Try this tip if you forget to recall the good things in your life at given times of your life by simply writing yourself the good things on sticky notes and spreading them on the various places you can see them at that time.
  • Capture what makes you happy, even if they are small things.

After reading this post I hope you now have a good insight into what gratitude is all about and how it can bring you very many benefits no matter who you are and what your circumstances are.
